Q: Corey, "Why did you write this web site?"
A: The main reason I wrote this web site is because whenever I Google the term "pharmaceutical sales" I get a bazillion bullshit web sites that try to sell you something (most of it worthless).
Very little free information regarding pharmaceutical sales or breaking into pharmaceutical sales is available on the internet. I started this site in 1999 as a way of giving back to an industry that has been very kind to be for the past 25 years.
There are message boards but if a wannabe asks questions on the message boards, the people on the message board belittle or abuse the job seekers.
Also, on the message boards you get a lot of people using dirty words, whining and bitching about how they hate their jobs and their company and they make us drug reps look like a bunch losers.
But I am proud to be a pharmaceutical sales representative. It's a cool job, it pays well and the customers and management treat me with respect. So by writing this web site I get to communicate with thousands of people each year and show them the positive side of things.
Q: Corey, "Do you make money off of this web site?"
A: Yes. I make a little money off this site. I make enough to pay for the upkeep on this site and keep my computer and software up-to-date.
But it's mostly a hobby.
I recommend things that I have used or would use myself because I worry about my reputation. Here are three products that I personally endorse on this site because I believe in them:
- I recommend my friend Scott Burke the resume writer dude from Long Island. He is a solid guy and since he started advertising on this site in 1999 I have never had a single solitary unresolved complaint regarding the service he provides. I have received 100's of E-mails from satisfied customers of Scott (and met several people who used him to write their resumes in person in the field in Queens, New York where I work). When people use him to write a resume I make a small fee.
- I recommend "Insight into a Career in Pharmaceutical Sales", by Anne Clayton. I don't charge her anything because Anne is my friend and she doesn't make much off her book anyhow.
- I advertise Pharma Resume Blaster because it is a good service and I went down there and I checked them out carefully and I got lots of good feedback all the time from people who use it.

A: Go for it. It's a great way to earn a living and you get to help people.
